The Adventium Songhai Delta Farm
Formerly called Songhai Delta Farm, Amukpe. The farm was established in 2002, during the administration of Chief James Onanefe Ibori as an integrated rural development and entrepreneurship center (modeled after the Songhai Parakou Farm in Republic of Benin). The state government’s objective for setting up the farm was to serve as a tool for galvanizing the energies of the state’s young population to more productive endeavors in the wake of youth restiveness.
The farm was designed to produce a wide range of high quality agro and agro allied products and to also provide training in sustainable agriculture, engineering, and hospitality in line with global best practices.
The farm which is on 137 hectares of land within the Amukpe Industrial Layout, Amukpe, Sapele, Delta State is strategically located and positioned for the above transformation as it has the following locational features:
Out of the 137 hectares of land, 37 hectares have been developed for restricted activities while the balance 100 hectares are available for crop production and other projects. The developed areas are currently housing infrastructure for crop and livestock production operations as well as agro-processing of raw materials into finished and semi-finished products.
Additionally, the developed areas also house the training and recreational facilities including 50 single apartments, 6 blocks of 3-bedroom apartments, 1000 capacity student hostels, training center, conference hall and staff and management quarters, restaurants, outdoor entertainment infrastructure amongst others.
